Granny Square Bag

Granny square bag is one of the most popular item of all times in the crochet world. Making squares can get monotonous at times but once you a make a few squares and you get a hang of the pattern you can make those square in a faster pace while watching TV too. When I started my first set of squares I watched a video by the crochet crowd and I remember this particular tip to make the squares. Instead of completing the full granny square it's easier to go one round or stitch in every square .That way, the squares are done faster or at least you will feel like it's done faster.
I have made few granny square bags. Here are some pictures of a bag I made for a friend of mine.

Wristers

The summer of 2014 was very busy and I had absolutely no time to crochet but, I certainly missed sitting with the yarn in my patio. After a long summer break,my sister shared a pattern from red heart with me and and asked if I can make it for her.

I was excited and she wanted it in a reflective yarn. Yes that's right ! Reflective !! Isn't that a great idea?! She sent me 4 bright fluffy yarn bundles. The pattern was super easy too. Here are some pics of the wristers.

Blue Minions Hat

We went to the store nearby to get a winter jacket for my son who is 7 years old.We picked a beautiful, cozy blue jacket and when we were looking for hats and gloves to go with it, my son wanted a Minion hat and gloves set but, the hat was way too small for his head and it hardly covered his ears. His birthday was coming up in a weeks time so,I decided to surprise him with a crochet hat.
I found a pattern for the hat with ear flap and it looked adorable. But, I wanted to make blue Minions instead of yellow so, It matches his jacket. Here is the link to the pattern

Of course, who could stop themselves from making a cute little Minion mitts to go with the hat. I followed a pattern from Ravelry

My son loved this set. Thanks to everyone who shares their patterns for free :)

Crochet Tree Skirt

I wanted a new crochet skirt for my Christmas tree this year and I didn't have much time to make. I was looking around for patterns online and there are quite some nice patterns available for free. I chose this pattern because it is very straight forward and simple and I thought I could finish it in a week max.
This pattern is very ideal for the beginner level crocheters. Here is the link to the pattern I followed http://www.momsloveofcrochet.com/hollytreeskirt.html.
The pattern calls for a size P hook. I didn't want to buy new yarn and wanted to use my scrap yarns for this project and so, I ended up using a size J hook as the yarn I had was way too thin for a Size P hook.
Notes:
I had to add more rows because of the hook size I used. Also, I wanted a skirt that could be used for 6.5 ft tree which means I had to add one more "increase row " .
It took me 6 days to finish this project and I am a moderate speed crocheter.
I made a tiny alteration in the last two rows.I did Sc in the first stitch, chain 3 skip a stitch and Sc in the next.
Also, added one more row by inserting the hook on the chain space from the previous row Sc ,chain 3 sc in the next chain space.
If you really, desperately want to make a last minute tree skirt you can still make it following this pattern.Hurry!

Christmas Tree

The holiday time is when you can really get into crocheting. I have always loved to bake and crochet especially in winters. The kids will be home for most of the days and with the snow storms passing through often, I consider this the most ideal time to relax and crochet. This season my goal is to make my own Christmas tree skirt before Christmas.I am working on it for the past 2-3 days and I can't wait to finish and post pictures of the skirt in my brand new blog. Until then, here is a glimpse of my tree :)
